For the first time the Fair took place over three days, rather than just two, giving the many hundreds of customers much more opportunity to browse and buy, and allowing visitors an early opportunity to see inside the new building.
Delicious lunches and cakes were served throughout in the Book Fair Café.
Following generous donations of around 100,000 books, plus records, videos, CDs and DVDs, a large team of volunteers worked together for over a week to set up the Fair. We received many compliments on the quality and range of our stock and about how well-organised everything was. Everyone involved was delighted at the sums raised for NCH and the Church Development Appeal (the next stage of which is a much-needed new youth hall to house our thriving scout group, 7th Epsom, one of the largest in the country). Perhaps the biggest problem we faced was to find sufficient tables to display the goods! Acquiring some extra trestle tables is a priority before next year’s Fair, planned for February 2009.
